Project Description
INP participated in developing India’s first deepwater gas field KG-D6 in the Bay of Bengal. KG‑D6 is among the five largest deepwater gas projects globally.
The 9,015t platform jacket was manufactured as part of an engineering,
procurement, construction, and installation contract by J Ray McDermott.
The power distribution for medium and low voltage was subcontracted
to Siemens. INP engineered, built and commissioned a Power Monitoring
and Control System (PCMS) for the platform consisting of a redundant
Siemens PLC control system, an ACCESS based HMI to monitor and control
power consumption and three interface cabinets between the PLC,
the breakers and an external DCS.
As a key element of the Power Distribution the PCMS was designed as a distributed system that is located in two different buildings. It monitors the two sub sea 11KV power supply cables and changes power distribution in case one of the cables fails. A generator set kicks in if both cables lose power and the PCMS manages power distribution accordingly.
